Movie recommendations?

I don't know if this will make sense, but for people who are familiar with the Hilary Swank movie Boys Don't Cry; I'm looking for a movie with similar setting, like the nighttime, small-town America vibe. I think some shots in the movie Monster were similar, if that helps. Sorry to ask such a weird question :P
